BUSINESS BIODIVERSITY & NATURAL CAPITAL – Ambitions, Risks & Opportunities

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_text_separator title=”one challenge – one location – two conferences” color=”green” border_width=”3″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text el_class=”columns”]

The EU B@B Platform and the Global Nature Fund (GNF) are joining forces in tackling the challenge for businesses in integrating biodiversity and natural capital. In a context of declining biodiversity across the globe and increasing pressures on natural resources, it is clear that all businesses across sectors will have to adapt their future strategies in order to succeed. While many front-running companies and organisations have already started working on biodiversity and natural capital these concepts are still new for many.

The two conferences under the common motto “Business, biodiversity & natural capital | Ambitions, risks & opportunities” will bring these front-runners and newcomers together with leading scientists, government officials and nature conservation organisations in a unique location in the centre of Europe.

Fourth EU B@B Annual Conference – How to set an ambition level? (4/10/2017)
The fourth annual conference of the EU B@B Platform will address as cross cutting theme the key question: How can businesses set an ambition level when integrating biodiversity into their activities? Should they focus on site level or supply chain measures? Should they adopt a more comprehensive Net Positive approach at site, product and/or organisation level? What can be a useful scale or metric and what models (“blueprints”) to use for the successful delivery of investable projects? These questions will be explored through a series of concrete examples and discussions on the approaches available to businesses.

The conference will also provide:

  • An update on key policy developments linked to biodiversity at EU level;
  • Three thematic working sessions focusing on natural capital accounting, innovation and finance and biodiversity;
  • An update about key tools, support services and financing available to support the integration of biodiversity into business activities;
  • Many networking opportunities allowing participants to connect and explore opportunities for collaboration.

During the Annual Conference you will have a chance to present your project on interactive mobile media units in the 2nd floor of the Nestle Competence Centre. If you are interested to participate, please send an email before 15 September to who will provide you with guidance on how to develop your digital poster. You will have until 22 September to submit your project.

Global Nature Fund – Integrating Natural Capital into Your Business (5/10/2017)
The conference on 5 October is organised by the GNF and will focus on operational issues related to the integration of natural capital into business. Starting from concrete business cases, the participants will have the chance to explore different natural capital practices, tools and innovations through a series of breakout sessions. Throughout the day, risks and opportunities for business related to natural capital will be discussed. The conference also provides an overview of the key developments taking place in that area in Germany and at international level.
